How do I build a custom mechanical keyboard?

You pick a chassis, a switch, a keycap set, and a few finishing options — plate material, mount style, hand-lubing, custom cable. At Resonic Studio we walk you through it step by step on the Specify page. The build itself is done in-house: switch lubing, stabilizer tuning, plate fit, full QC. You receive a finished, tuned keyboard rather than a kit to assemble.

What is the difference between the GMK67 and the GMK81?

The GMK67 is a compact 65 percent layout — 67 keys, arrow cluster, no function row. The GMK81 is a 75 percent — 81 keys with a dedicated F-row and a small knob. Both share the same gasket-mount chassis quality and tri-mode connectivity. Choose the 67 for desk-space minimalism, the 81 if you want F-keys and a volume knob without going TKL.

What is a tri-mode keyboard?

A tri-mode keyboard runs over USB-C cable, Bluetooth 5.0, and 2.4 GHz wireless via a dongle. You can swap between a wired desktop, a Bluetooth tablet, and a 2.4G gaming receiver with a flick of a switch. Both the GMK67 and GMK81 ship as tri-mode boards by default at the studio.

What is the KT Big Screen keyboard?

The KT Big Screen is a gasket-mounted chassis with an integrated 325-LED smart display in the top right corner — live system stats, GIFs, custom dashboards. It is tri-mode, with the screen driven over USB and customizable from the KT software. A statement piece for desk setups that lean toward the visual.

What switches should I pick — linear, tactile, clicky, or silent?

Linears are smooth top to bottom, the default for gaming and most modern customs. Tactiles have a noticeable bump just before actuation — preferred by many typists. Clickies add an audible click on top of the bump, divisive in shared spaces. Silents are linears or tactiles with dampened housings, ideal for offices. We hand-lube tactiles and linears at the studio to lift the feel beyond stock.

Do you ship outside Singapore?

Yes — Resonic Studio ships across Asia. Singapore deliveries are tracked courier; regional shipping covers Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea. Lead times include 3–7 days of regional courier transit on top of the build window. Customs and duties are the buyer's responsibility.

Is hand-lubing switches worth it?

Yes, on tactile and linear switches especially. Factory lubing is uneven and often light; a proper hand-lube with Krytox 205g0 on the rails and stem legs removes spring ping, smooths out scratchiness, and makes the keystroke feel uniform across all 67 to 105 keys. It is a 4–6 hour process per board, and one of the few mods you genuinely cannot replicate at home without practice.

What is the lead time for a custom build?

Standard lead time is 14 to 28 days from order confirmation, covering chassis prep, hand-lubing, stabilizer tuning, keycap install, and full QC. Highly bespoke configurations — custom cables, custom keycap sets, sourced switches — can extend up to 35 days. You receive photo confirmation before the build ships.

Can I send my own keycaps to use in the build?

Yes — supply any MX-compatible keycap set in OEM, Cherry, SA, or XDA profile and we will fit them during the build. Resonic Studio also produces custom keycap sets in-house, including dye-sub PBT, double-shot ABS, and one-off artisans, if you would prefer the keycaps to come from the same atelier as the chassis.

How much does a full custom keyboard cost at Resonic Studio?

Custom builds range from S$265 for a base GMK67 with stock switches up to S$700-plus for a fully optioned KT Big Screen or Wooting Two HE with hand-lubed premium switches and a custom keycap set.
